It goes without saying that to be successful, you have to work hard and be consistent in your actions. Routine and understanding your business objective are vital to creating your success. So why am I saying that Technology is Success? Is it based on something that Obama said about you not being the only one to build your business? Am I so daft to think that Technology is the only way to garner success today? The short answer is neither of those.

We must nod to those who preceded our labors and made life and work more accessible; however, our immediate success is directly proportional to the time we spend aligning ourselves with our mission and doing routine, disciplined work or the important get things done efforts. There are even professions and work that I tip my hat to because their labor is so intensive or the knowledge and technical acumen required are above my abilities. The other consideration is that Technology is much more than computers and AI. Advances in how your body mechanics can be used to lengthen your career, or how you use a “new” device that was created to improve on some relic you had in your toolbox for a long time increases the ease in which you perform a maintenance or building task are all technological advances. We rarely hear about these advances as Technology, but they are nonetheless. And sometimes the old Technology, still Technology, mind you, works best.
So what is my point? It is more that using and understanding how to employ Technology leads to success. Its the old adage “Work smarter not harder.” As Technology improves, we can reap the benefits from employing that technological improvement, but we must know how. An example is the introduction of Automated Intelligence (AI). I do not personally believe that it is automate rather I think it is more guided and trained on alogorythmic processing. You can use this Technology to improve efficiency in scripting languages or writing works based on vast knowledge repositories. The key to employing AI to write is knowing that you cannot just copy and paste what it compiles and spits out. You have to know how to make it sound like an actual human wrote it with tweaks and adjustments in language, word choice, and tone indicators in the copy. Or even learning that just asking it to write a python script or SQL query will not solve the entire problem you have it working to overcome. You need to work iteratively and have some base understanding in the scripting language you are asking AI to help write. You still need to know troubleshooting and proper code format, but AI can make repetitive tasks or some of the ceremonial things we do in our routine and amplify what we can accomplish in a set time frame. It makes life easier to do more as it stands.

Leveraging Technology and intelligently applying it to our work increases our productivity and can shorten the revenue cycle in our businesses. By shortening cycles and adding efficiency, we can do more and improve the lives of so many of our clients and our companies. We could do the same things daily without adding efficiency and ease, but that would leave us where we were as a civilization 100 years ago. It is tempting; however, it makes more sense to keep up with demand and how the overall landscape in our businesses has changed than to work against it and create mundane similar processes repeatedly until we are worn out. That seems like the opposite of success, so I say Technology is Success!
